Schätzungen zufolge hat sich die Zahl adipöser Menschen in Europa seit den 1980er-Jahren verdreifacht, auch in Ländern mit traditionell niedriger Prävalenz. Die höchste Rate von Übergewicht bei Männern wurde in Großbritannien dokumentiert (>70%). Bei Frauen wird die höchste Rate in Irland registriert (60%). Die Bevölkerungen der osteuropäischen Länder, des Balkans und der ehemaligen Sowjetrepubliken waren im Allgemeinen schlanker als die Westeuropäer (Übergewicht: 40%, Adipositas: < 10%).FOOD TODAY 03/2012 Wie groß ist das Übergewichtsproblem in Europa?
